Nevada Reading Week 2010 has come and gone. At Gehring, teachers are given the option to decorate their doors to further celebrate reading. A few of us did...take a look!
Springs Preserve was wonderful. Even though there were so many students, everyone saw so much and most importantly learned something. I was so excited when I heard a group of students saying "So this is why Vegas is here."
The chaperones that volunteered their time to watch over our precious kids deserve a huge thank you! You guys took your groups and made sure they were safe and having fun. WOW! You guys really impressed me!
Another thank you to Amanda Maule (our office manager) for helping me with all the paperwork and getting everything approved.
My favorite parts were the movie at the beginning, the Native American home re-creations and the Flash Flood room.

And the award goes to........drum roll please..........Mrs. Ferreiro's 2nd grade class! Our class won for having the most PERFECT ATTENDANCE and NO TARDY days for the month of September. We had some competition (all of the primary classes K-2) but we won! Good job kiddos! Keep coming to school every day and on time! We get to keep the sacred Attendance Trophy in our class for the whole month of October. Yeah I know we will be on track break, but that is ok, WE WON!
Well we did it agian! We won the Attendance Trophy for the month of February! Great job Geckos!
Since this year our school theme pertains to sports, we decided (as a grade level) to have some shirts made. We showed our school spirit this Friday by all wearing our bowling shirts. Check us out next Friday to see what we will wear next. 2nd grade ROCKS!
Students are encouraged to show their school spirit and wear their favorite team jersey or Gehring shirts on Fridays. I want to put the emphasis on working together and everyone belonging to the "team." Teachers being a team along with parents and students is important!
GO TEAM 2ND GRADE!
Today, September 1st, your child should have brought home a fundraising packet from "The Cookie Dough Man." We had an assembly today and the kids got all fired up about selling items so they can win rewards. I know that in these economic times it is hard to find the resources for school events like this, but it is important for our school and helps make it possible for us to do those extra things for your child without having to pay for them out of our own pocket. Just think...if each student sold one item?!? I still have cookie dough in my freezer from last year! :) Good luck selling and please contact myself or the office if you have any questions about our fundraiser.
