Anthony Reynoso Visits Roger Gehring Elementary School

Second graders from our school, Roger Gehring ES, had a very special visit on May 11th.  Anthony Reynoso and his father came to our school to give a roping exhibition.  Who is Anthony Reynoso you may ask?  He is the source of a story that is in our basal reading book, Trophies.  The title of the non-fiction story is Anthony Reynoso: Born to Rope written by a first grade teacher, Ginger Gordon.  It is a picture book biography about a 9 year old boy and his life as a Mexican cowboy (charro).  He and his father travel around to schools, malls, festivals, etc. showing off their impressive roping skills.

Well now he is a grown man in his twenties and he and his father are still traveling giving roping exhibitions.  The students absolutely loved watching the story come to life.  Having the Reynoso's come to our school was such a great opportunity.  A big thank you to our office manager, Ms. Amanda, for arranging everything for us.  Another thank you to Ms. Young for taking the pictures for me.
